I’m brown. I love tea. End of story.
As a lover of Indian Chai – I’m constantly scouting for new places offering my daily cuppa. Here are my top picks serving chai in Dubai all under AED 5:)
Opened in 1971 and possibly the oldest place on the block, Paragon serves a nice mean cup of strong chai in Dubai. The only deterrent is this place is thronged by cabbies so if you’re a woman visiting, you’re going to stick out like a sore thumb. Best to wave out to the staff and have the tea delivered to your car.

Visit this hole in the wall for a cuppa of ‘disco tea’ (??). The joke amongst my friends is the tea comes with a whole green cardamon and appears like its ‘dancing’ and hence the name :/ Apart from the odd name, Al Hara has a huge fan following, given that there are numerous cars double-parked outside the cafe on a daily basis.

3. Fillis Cafe, Multiple locations
Filli’s is a homegrown brand so needless to say its quite popular with the south-east Asian community who were born and bred in Dubai. Come winter, it kinda impossible to find spot to park your car but the chaos kinda adds to the experience of enjoying a nice cuppa of sweet, milky tea.

As the name suggests, this Indian restaurant is known for its egg specialties. But no Indian meal with complete without a nice cuppa and they serve couple of variants – of which I love the Adrak (ginger) chai.

South-Indian restaurant in Karama known for their fish delicacies and their freshly brewed frothy tea.

6. Sangeetha Restaurant, Karama
Their mini-tiffin along with a hot cuppa is a winning combo for all South-India breakfast lovers.

This sport’s cafe is known for their sheesha and yummy omlettes. Other than that as the name suggests, they do offer the best selections of tea in Dubai and I’m particularly font of their ‘cutting chai’. Best summed up by Urban dictionary – Cutting chai was originally made popular by the good residents of Bombay looking for their morning refreshment before catching the first local to their daily wages.

A local favourite amongst people residing in Old Dubai. Recommended for their ‘kadak’ and ‘zafrani’ tea.
